Oratorical winner 2021!!
Braiya Nolan Our Post 102 Oratorical contestant, Braiya Nolan has done it again!! In 2020 Braiya competed at the post, county, district, and state level. She won at every level and was due to compete at national level but due to COVID-19 , it was canceled. This year she is back at it again. She has once again won at the post, county, and district level . She is going on to compete at state level on February 13th, 2021. We are very hopeful that she will be able to go on to Nationals this year in April.

For submitting participants in the 2019-2020 school year
· Oratorical Contest Deadline - End of November
o Submit Up to five 9-12 grade students
o The Post level Oratorical Contest will be held the first Tuesday in December
o Since 1938, the contest helped students developed knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution

· Badger Boys State Deadline - Jan 1st
o Submit Two Junior Boys
o Badger Boys State will be held from June 13th-20th at Ripon College in 2020
o Badger Boys State is a once in a lifetime program for high school students entering their senior year (Juniors). Using the exercise of creating their own state government, they will have a unique opportunity to learn firsthand the importance of building a community.

· Badger Girls State Deadline - Jan 1st
o Submit Two Junior Girls
o Badger Girls State will be held from June 21-26th in 2020
o American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State (ALABGS) is a week-long government and leadership conference for young women in their junior year of high school.
o Scholarships are available through Badger Girls State https://www.alabgs.org/
· County Youth Government Day Deadline - second Tuesday in March
o March 10th at the Walworth County Government Center in Elkhorn
o Schools send up to ten students in social sciences classes
o Students tour the County Government Center, talk to county employees, participate in a mock board meeting, and have lunch.
· Americanism and Government Scholarship Program - Testing from March 9-20th
o All 10-12 grade students encouraged to test. A proctor is not required and it can be taken at home or at school.
o There is no prep test. Each question limited to 60 seconds. The essay an opinion piece based on a random question asked in the test about government. The essay will be 300 words without a time limit. Takes approximately an hour to complete.
o Test will be live 9 March and can be found on the wilegion.org main webpage.
o 33 winners will be selected in Wisconsin
