The Post 102 is actively supporting veterans and the community in the following ways:
- Provides support to Ball and Glove and The American Legion Baseball
- Provides $1,500 in scholarships to Walworth, Fontana, and Williams Bay graduates each year
- Donates to the Walworth, Fontana, and Williams Bay Fire and Rescue
- Donates to Walworth Food Pantry, Camp American Legion, VAMC, and the Veterans Service Commission
- Recognizes and acknowledges local families with loved ones serving in the Armed Forces at events and activities
- Supports and funds local youth at American Legion Government Day
- Sponsors local Badgers Boys/Girls states participants
- Organizes and participates in local patriotic celebrations (Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc.)
- Remembers local veterans with funeral service honors, gun salute, and presenting next-of-kin a flag
- Places flags on all fallen veteran’s graves at 3 local cemeteries each year
- Provides Veterans Day programs at local schools
- Recognizes students at local schools who demonstrate exceptional standards and dedication
- Passes out poppies in remembrance of the veterans we have lost in times of war
- Collects worn and tattered flags for proper retirement
- Hosts an annual Feather Party for the community to join us in fall fun and festivities
- Hosts an annual Awards banquet to recognize individuals making a difference in the local community
The National, State and Post 102 American Legion all support the following:
Conducts, promotes and supports hundreds of veteran’s career events nationwide each year.
Is instrumental in the creation of the modern GI Bill, providing veterans with education benefits that better meet today’s needs
Has American Legion representatives for the State in Washington, D.C., who can help veterans and families disputing benefits decisions by the VA at the National Level
Offers free Veterans Service Officers assistance at all counties and tribes to those applying:
To their service branches for corrections to military records and discharge statuses
For VA health care, education, pension and compensation benefits
For assistance finding jobs, housing, and other needs
Supports the U.S. military – from adequate funding for operations to child care services for deployed troops
Lobbies alongside members of Congress, the Citizens Flag Alliance, and the majority of the American people to return to the states the right to enact flag protection laws
